So here we are in January and our goals, intentions and aspirations for the year are all in place. So how is it going? Is your goal setting working?
In my last blog post I mentioned that one of my goals I was working on was focus. To that end I came up with a daily schedule to enable me to be more focused. It had flexibility in certain time frames to account for unplanned phone calls, etc.
When I met with my coach, she asked “how is it going”? “Well, not as planned”, I replied. I can’t seem to follow it exactly. The intention is there but there are always interruptions. So she wanted to know what was my relationship with my schedule. What did the schedule mean to me? What actions was I taking that were not aligned with my goal of finishing my book and developing a webinar series. These goals were ultimately why I wanted to focus in the first place.
I started to think about my goals again with new eyes. My goals of my new book and the webinar series fit the criteria of “C” goals. Go back to the blog post 3 Different Types of Life Goals to remind yourself of the three different types of goals. These goals came from my imagination, they were inspiring, I had never done this version before and I really wanted them to materialize.
So what was missing? What did I learn from Bob Proctor and Sandy Gallagher? Ah Ha! I did not have them written on a goal card so I could see them daily. I did not have positive affirmations to go along with these goals. I was not getting emotionally involved with them and attracting the right vibration. I was letting my old paradigms (my habitual behavior patterns held in my subconscious mind) take over. Boy, they are sneaky.
There is focus and then there is focus. I realized I was focusing on the “how” instead of letting the “how” show up. My old paradigms had me focus on the schedule. My focus needed to be more on the positive affirmations, reading my goal card daily and getting emotionally involved with seeing my goals already in place. See more ideas in Part 2 – The Art of Manifesting Your Goals – Concrete Steps.
I am always amazed with our paradigms. Until we are conscious of them, it is so easy to be heading down the wrong path, in my case with focus, and not even realizing it.
So how is your goal setting coming?
Here’s to your success!
